The highly-awaited second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel arrives on the streaming platform this week, and audience theories has been rampant.
The first season introduces a diverse group of characters residing in the afterlife, sets them at odds accompanied by musical numbers about their clashes, and builds heated competitions and emotional bonds that drive audience devotion.
The community's expectations for season 2 vary widely, but certain themes recur frequently: Could Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with audience demands as the main goal," the showrunner stated recently. "However I believe that me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 moves, and how many of what they're waiting for happens now.
"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some incredible reveals, some really cool origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about season 2 — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a couple people create a bingo card about the new season," she says. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've actually done a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
